Yeah, it kind of is.

For the past year (or three) I haven't used my DW or my LJ much. I've spent a bit of time on Tumblr, but truth be told, I don't have the patience for the barely there communication (it's full of pretty pictures, but that's about it for me - apart from the gazillion ideas it's occasionally given me - that will never see the light of day LOL).

So for the year to come, I'll be attempting to breathe some life back into this - both reading as well as writing here (both LJ and DW as I'll be crossposting). I'll put fic announcements up as well - because I've got more than a few coming up and quite another number planned.

  • Entry for the [profile] xmenreversebang - which I still need a secondary beta for

  • A fic done to a piece of artwork (x-men) that has had me re-writing world war 2 - as in extending it into the 1950s

  • A planned follow up to the Jade Coin (if I can fit it into getting written this year)

  • A full fledged Warehouse 13 fusion which cropped up during my fic-a-week project this past year (x-men/W13 fusion)

  • A Victorian setting (also spawned from the fic-a-week project) which probably will end up being steampunk (x-men)

  • a few other story ideas that I might get around to doing.

  • Finishing editing the original story I started on in the 00s - which I've decided might finally get to see the light of day

So, here's to hoping I'll see new and old faces around here again - I've missed the conversations and interaction with everyone here.

Hope you all have a happy New Year.

Here's to seeing you lot in the year to come.

Guys, there's a whole flurry of snowflake cookies going around XD

They've gotten me through a bit of writing tonight, though it's nowhere near the end. It's an AU, it's Merlin/Arthur and pure crack *nods sagely*

So, thanks to [personal profile] oxoniensis, [personal profile] sol_se, [personal profile] carlachameleon, [personal profile] reedfem, [personal profile] windeetree, [personal profile] pinkelephanti, [personal profile] callingmethere, [personal profile] enigel and [profile] monkeyfun1 and not to mention, someone gave me 6 months of paid LJ too O.o

You guys are slightly nuts, but I do love you all. *sighs* - I can't trust my respiration a the moment, as I've got a wee cold, but my hands are itching and they only do that after I've come home from work when I've been petting her. Argh bugger - I'll give it a few more days and see if it's that.
ximeria: (Default)
Hey guys,

I've had a friend over tonight, but she's gone home now. We had fun, ate too much and laughed a lot *g*

Now see, I have to go do the dishes or i'll hate myself in the morning XD

While I do that, I'd love for you guys to ask me a question of any kind or tell me some strange bit of fact about life, the universe or yourself -- or do both *g*
ximeria: (TW - ianto jones - oh f***)
You know how some nights you plan and schedule stuff to do? I was going to clean a bit, get some more stuff packed for the moving to the new flat and then updating Nicci's website.

How much have I gotten done? NADA! Why? I came home from work and within an hour, my stomach had cramped so badly that I had to curl up under the blankets, whimpering with pain. Anyone who knows me knows I normally handle pain okay -- it annoys me when I'm hurting somewhere, but I can handle it. Except when it's the stomach, and I still don't know why it went crazy, because it's not that time of the month.

Righ, so am I getting anything done tonight? Hardly, but I do have to do the dishes and fix lunch for tomorrow. *sighs*

I think the below image says it all -- Nicci's right, some days are lol-days

ximeria: (tw - ianto jones - sexy welsh man)
No, not mad as in angry, mad as in CRAZY *g*

I've been flat hunting lately and haven't had much luck. I had today -- I'm moving on May 1st XD *does a little happy dance*

It won't be much more expensive, but it'll be twice the size ^_^ -- I finally won't mind taking pictures of where I live for you guys XD
ximeria: (TW - jack/ianto - tenderness)
A while back to post stuff that wasn't fandom related but me-related? Yeah, I did *g*

Right, so last time was a bit heavy about religion -- not yours or your neighbour's but mine. This time, completely different:

Recipe time! I'm cooking soup and sharing the recipe.

Mind you, some of the measurements are probably odd to you, because I'm a Dane and hence, we don't necessarily use the same measurements.

Red pepper soup

This will be a good, big potful, just to warn you.

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 red peppers depending on size -- you can use snack pepper, just keep in mind they don't have as strong a taste.

  • 1 medium to large size onion

  • a handful of sliced meat if you want to -- it can be a vegie soup as well -- i tend to use chicken or turkey

  • 2 cans of chopped tomatoes

  • various spices, paprica, cayenne pepper or similar, salt

  • 1 litre of bouillon/broth -- chicken, beef, vegie your choice (US 4 cups, IMP 1 3/4 pint)

  • 1 tablespoon Sweet chili sauce

  • 1-2 handfuls of pasta

  • 7 oz/200g cream cheese, NOT the light version

How to:

Cut unions and pepper and fry in the pot -- add meat. Let it fry for a few minutes, while stirring it.

Add the cans of tomato, stir and leave to cook at a lower heat for five to ten minutes. Keep an eye on it and stir every once in a while.

Add the bouillon/broth -- use at least 1 litre as I wrote above, but don't be a afraid to add a bit more water -- it'll be a fairly thick soup.

Add spices and salt -- though keep in mind to not use too much salt -- you'll need to check the taste once you have the cream cheese in anyway.

Leave it to cook for half an hour to an hour -- it's like chili con carne -- the more it cooks the better.

Dump in the pasta -- use smaller stuff, soup noodles and the like -- once they've cooked in the soup for a while they'll be nice and thick -- soaked in the soup.

Add the cream cheese -- all of it. Stir until the soup is creamy. Now add appx a table spoon or two of sweet chili sauce -- don't forget to do the taste check -- it can get really spicy XD -- also of course depends on how you prefer it. Add more salt if needed and there ya go, enjoy -- also? You can freeze this stuff and just reheat in the microwave or on the cooker.

'Ello everyone,

I'm back safe and sound at my flat in Odense.

*yawns*
Yes, I had to go to work today. *le sigh*

Anyway, yes, I managed to make my connecting flight with surprising time to spare XD -- but only because I made the transfer in 20 mins from terminal 1 to terminal 4 -- which is my all-time best *g*. Right, we were actually appx 40 mins late out of Edinburgh. Still, I had time to visit the WH smith at the gate area in Heathrow and I came out with a book about the Doctor and eh... a Torchwood novel *coughs* What?!!

Went home on the train where I fired the lappie up and watched 'They keep killing Susie' -- Rissen mitten and stopwatch porn *laughs* -- okay, the latter we have to imagine but come on. Don't tell me they weren't going to be getting at it like rabbits when those ten minutes were over? It's so very blatant -- which only makes me love it all the more *g* I know half the fandom is so expectant of the James Marsters appearance, but I'm much more interested in what the Jack/Ianto situation will be like -- I know, I know, I just don't very often have a canon-pairing XD -- and they are so hot. I didn't much care for Ianto in the beginning, but after I'd finished the series I had grown to love him -- and his slightly dysfunctional character -- if one can call him that. I also miss his voice *smirks*

Right, sorry to go off on the TW tangent *g*

In other news, I have decided what to name my Laptop. It is, thanks to you lot as well, now named 'Ianto' -- the D drive which I use for storage/download is named 'Jack' because it's full of dirty little secrets *g* (yes, there's porn on it at the moment, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] theamusedone *g*) and because that make my inner 12 year old giggle -- it means that Jack's inside Ianto, right? I told you I had a juvenile sense of humour! I hope naming it after an efficient man, will have a positive impact on it *g*

I've also today ordered the autobiography on John Barrowman -- what can I say? He fascinates me and I like his sense of humour. I'd like to know more about him and I haven't read a book in ages.
ximeria: (Default)
Right, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ladyivy's quick and dirty beta I managed to finish the DS seekrit santa on time.

*bows deeply*
Thank you.

I can't wait to read the insane amount of fic that will be up at the archive for Christmas. I also can't wait for the Doctor Who Christmas episode -- Voyage of the Damned and mid January there's the new Torchwood *bounces insanely*

Right, off to bed I am. I've got a ton of shite I need to do at work tomorrow that won't be doing itself and we've got the last day open before Christmas when we hit Thursday. Friday I've got off, then there's Christmas to get through and I'm off to Scotland on the 27th ^______^

Hey look, I'm on facebook.com...

*listens to the crickets chirping*

Yeah, that was sort of my reaction too. What's the hype all about?
ximeria: (Default)
So there. I'm caught up with my wordcount on the nano, meaning I'm probably going to procrastinate for a few days again, get behind again and run around like a headless chicken when the weekend comes around... And no, I haven't even written any sex in the story yet XD -- Compared to the last two years, there's very little actual sex going on yet. Ask Nicci what it was like the previous years... *coughs*

So, right, I've done this one before, gonna do it again because I CAN, dammit -- who said procrastination...?

What would you say are the trademarks of my writing? What themes or quirks or turns of phrase have you noticed? What is it that makes a story by me -- well, a story by me?

Feel free to be honest with it or funny, or snarky. Whatever rocks your boat or tempts your mountie.
ximeria: (DF - Bob skull)
So, had a busy weekend -- not writing of course LOL

Saturday D and I rented a car to go get some furniture and various other stuff that was stored at her Grandma's place. It was a great trip, fantastic weather, although the sharp sunlight was hell sometimes when I had it right in my face *g*

Right, so I had the car Sunday as well, and we'd agreed to go on a bit of a roadtrip among other things down to see my sister and that part of the family and enjoy the weather that was still fantabulous. The morning I spent at the Zoo here in Odense, and I got more than a little lucky with some of the photos.

Right, I best be off to get some more written. I'm terribly behind.

Click the Red Panda below to go to the photos I took yesterday.

Man, these are some seriously long days. I get in at work around 8/8,30AM and punch out again around 8PM in the evening. At least we're narly halfway through hell week. We'll be back to normal next week. Well, more or less, there'll still be plenty do do. But we're back to closing the store at 5,15PM instead of 7PM.

So, yay, got great news. I've been hired to stay at the bookstore, so there's no getting rid of me now \O/

On another note. What is it about Torchwood fanfic writer and their bloody WIPs? I keep running into halffinished crap that hasn't been anywhere near a beta and isn't anywhere near finished enough to read, damn it! What? Don't look at me like that. I don't write epic sagas and post them unfinished. I think I did that ONCE and that was a newbie. I'm too much of a control freak to fully share until I'm actually done. No, the NaNo doesn't count. I only post in bits to keep myself going -- if the few who are logged into my nano journal enjoy it, then I'm glad, but it's still just a way of making myself write every day. Even without the comments I'd still post it to a locked journal while I'm working on it. I've become a pissy old fart, haven't I? ROFL

Question of the day, as it was put to me by [livejournal.com profile] nicci_mac: Why I Jack Harkness so beautiful -- I'd have to say, he's not really, but he's hot as hell a flirt to boot.
ximeria: (DF - Bob skull)
Things I've done today:

*Cleaned up old clothes and shoes
*Coded the rest of [livejournal.com profile] bertybertle's Stargate stories and uploded most of them to origin.popullus.net
*Virus check the desktop computer -- it's currently running

Things I might try to do before I head off to bed:

*Answer long overdue email and LJ comments
*get through my WIP fold *snorts*
*manage to get to bed before 1AM because it's a work day tomorrow.

Amusing thing in the WIP folder. I found a Smallville christmas story titled Mistletoe and Gay Aliens that I don't even recall having started XD -- I haven't had it open since December 13th, 2002...
ximeria: (X-MEN - Bobby/Remy makeout)
I promised to translate the second article I was talking about last week. I've just been swamped with work and other stuff (like expanding [livejournal.com profile] bertybertle's website *eg*) and you know, just the usual stuff getting in my way (sleep, among other things...)

I appologize for any typos etc. It's late and I really do need to go to bed...

Danish women are turned on by gay porn

21st June, 2007
By Per Thiemann
Original article

From comics about romances among men to gay porn, it catches the attention of more and more Danish women. Sexologist calls it a sign of good health.

tally ho! Jeeves! )
ximeria: (Default)
I've tried to translate as close as possibly -- this is the article I came across the other day in 'Nyhedsavisen' and I did want to share it with you guys. And yes, I did just skim the newspaper, hit page 20, caught a nice, color picture of two guys together. With the headline attached I just had to read it and write the journalist behind it.

Japanese Women are turned on by gay porn

Erotic comic books with sex between men has for decades been a huge hit among Japanese women. The phenomenon is slowly spreading to the western part of the world.

Update

ximeria: (DS - Ray rentboy)
Oh heh. I just got off the phone with the guy who wrote the article about yaoi and gay porn yesterday. So, yeah. I talked to him for about half an hour, me thinks. I'm going to translate the article from yesterday and eh... there'll be a new one in a day or two as well. He found the idea of slash interesting. He wanted that side too as he was working on another article about how women seem to be turned on by the idea of two men together. Eh, we've known that for years, haven't we girls? ^_~ -- Normally I'm not good with the idea of dragging slash into the spot light, but we're talking a Danish article in a Danish newspaper, if anything, I'm hoping I can count out more than... um, let's see. I think I know of 3 or four slashers here in Denmark all in all. That's not a large number, now is it? On the other hand, it seems more and more are reading yaoi/shonen-ai so who knows, it might be changing.

I'm off to see about translating and no, I haven't forgotten the old old request list. We'll see if I can squeeze a bit in here and there.

*pours coffee*
ximeria: (Default)
I came across an article today in one of our numerous free newspapers. They're everywhere, really.

Why did this catch my eye? Well, the headline was 'Japanese women are turned on by gay porn'

I kid you not! I wrote the GUY who wrote the article, asking if he'd mind terribly if I translated his article into English to share it with everyone here. And to tell him I was impressed to see an article like that in a Danish newspaper (for the few Danes here, it was Nyhedsavisen from today june 18th). It was an okay article, really. About how Yaoi is becoming more and more popular in the west as well.

Okay, so it wasn't really the headline that caught my eye first, but the image accompanying it XD

Are you calling me shallow? Wouldnt' that be the pot calling the kettle black?
ximeria: (DF - Bob skull)
Hello all,

Just a short notice to let y'all know that I haven't been kidnapped by aliens, nor have I fallen into a crevasse. Seriously. I'm still here, just slightly worn out this week -- I'm probably going to start digging into the requests tomorrow night, and thank you kindly for making the requests, however odd/weird they are XD

So, now I'm off to bed, seriously -- lack of sleep does not help me in any way.

*bounces around, high on coffeeeeeeeee*

*wonders if it was a good idea to give this journal link to friends tonight -- it might burn their brains out*
ximeria: (Default)
*sighs happily*
Damn, finally it's Friday! *yawns*

I've been trying to catch up a bit, answering email, updating my websit with THREE stories... yeah, I haven't exactly been feeling like keeping up with everything. Don't ask me why, but I figure I've just been too busy with real life.

Tuesday is a big day for [livejournal.com profile] goddessindia, she's leaving the campus, moving into an apartment. Yeah, she's growing up! Jeez, okay, she's gonna kill me for that comment LOL. And yes, of course I'll help her move. I'm nearly as excited as she is *g* -- I love moving, and I don't mind helping others.

I'm also counting down until I'm leaving for Scotland *grins widely* -- Someone at work asked if I was going to a pub at some point while there. I told her, 'yes, Nicci's hubby is picking me up in Edinburgh, taking me to a pub THEN home LOL -- gotta love the Scots, eh?

Also, am annoyed that this year there are permanent accounts up for being bought at the price of $150. Those are lifetime accounts on LJ - no more paying, no more adding extras to the LJ. They're just THERE. But they go up in June and with the holidays being spent in Scotland, I really don't have the money for it. *sighs* - and it being in June it more or less coincides with me having to pay for my LJ as well -- and you know, I have to pay for the extra icons as well, right? *bangs head on desk* -- it happens so rarely that they put the permanent accounts up for sale and of course it coincides with my vacation *sticks tongue out at LJ*.

Oh well, I'll survive. I just know I'll stick to LJ for a long time, because places like myspace gives me the heebie-jeebies. I hate how most people do their layout. It looks wonky and it's hard to navigate *pets LJ*

1. I am also currently considering changing the layout on my journal. Any suggestions?
2. I'm in love with Fall Out Boy's 'Bang the Doldrums' -- click Fai below to hear why.
