I'm hoooooooooome

And damn, but it feels good. The concert was FAB. We totally rocked the place *g*
Normally with our own choir (this was people from all over the country, massing to 307 participants -- we're normally 'only' 98 on our own *g* -- about 50 or so from our choir took part) - well, a concert is normally around 45mins. This was 2 hours! I'm still jazzed *g* -- not as hoarse as I'd expected -- I'm a soprano and a lot of the songs WERE up there -- very high ^_^

307 (+- a few -- at the last instructions after the final rehearsals this afternoon)

We started Friday night, went from 7PM to 10PM appx. Saturday from 9AM to 9PM then we had a café where the choirs could perform for each other. Sunday we had a sermon at the local baptist church where some of us went to give them two of the songs as a small taste. Then off for rehearsals from 1PM to around 3PM -- then were allowed a break while people arrived and got their seats -- 400-500 people, I'm not sure *g* -- so we went on stage 4:30PM and the concert ended 6:30PM *g*

Saturday

From the left: Anthony, who is one of Kerry Smith's ministers. Sweet, sweet man, with the patience of a saint. You have to have that to keep up with Kerry's craziness *g*
Kerry Smith, at the piano -- this is the second day of rehearsals -- somewhere between 9AM and 1230PM -- we started Friday night. Amazing he didn't kick the piano down, he was so darned animated *g* -- The guy next to him is Christoph, who wasn't scheduled to be there, but Kerry was a bit sad that he'd be caught behind the piano, so Christoph offered to take over. Can a guy learn 5-6 songs from Friday night to Saturday afternoon? Yeahsureyabetcha. He did and he kept up with Kerry too *g*

Then it's our other instructor at the piano, Ken Anderson from San Diego. Much quieter than Kerry, more calm. Well, quiet, no. The VOICE on that man when he ran us through belting techniques. To the left of him is our guitarist (from what I recall his name was Mikkel -- talented guy, alright and not too bad lookin' *g*)
Speaking of good looking, dude on the right side with the bass is our regular bass player when our 'smaller' choir performs. He's cute alright, especially now that he's had his hair cut *eg*

Another shot at the small stage that we converted today to a much larger scene -- enough to accomodate 307 people *g*

Just to give you guys an idea of the room we were in. All those chairs were filled with people during rehearsals. I'm amazed we could all be crammed up onto the stage today LOL

Another shot, from another angle. It's during a break, or I'd never have been running around with the camera *g*

That man was so lovery and calming LOL. Ken Anderson from San Diego -- He even held a little lecture for us, explaining the origin of gospel music, about the underground railroad, about the coded messages in some of the music.

Heh, yeah. I asked Ken if I could take his picture. Nice man said yes. Moment later one of the guys from my own choir comes along, snags the camera and goes. Noooo, one of both of ya LOL -- everyone was nice, loose and we sure did have a lot of fun. I think Ken was the one I've learned the most from. Even though I can sing, it's always great being run through some techniques -- I'm not half as hoarse now as I think I would've been LOL

Saturday Night fun

Poor Anders -- our choir leader in our own choir. He isn't fond of being dragged out and thanked -- gets all flustered LOL -- so of course we do this to him every damned year at the festival *eg*

Sunday
The choir's final rehearsal from 1PM-3PM

Kerry Smith and our piano player Christoph. It was the one picture I could take where Kerry wasn't running around like a mad man *g*. He had a fabulous energy and he made the entire choir go crazy *g*.
The picture's taken from my spot up front with the sopranos. Good thing I'm so bloody short, I don't have to stand in the back ^_~

Just to get an idea of how many we were (307 choir participants)

Slightly different angle. The guy in the dark shirt with his back to the camera is Anders, who is the choir leader of the choir I normally sing in. He and his wife are THE drive behind the festival and we absolutely adore him for it.
