Browsing the slash archives...

I should know better...

So... things that make me stop/wonder/endanger my monitor

  • 'blunt spear' -- ::spits out coffee, narrowly missing monitor:: ::groans::
  • Using the term lover three times in one paragraph...
  • Does everyone have lube in their bedside drawer? I was thinking, especially straight guys?

On the last, if I *had* a bedside drawer, the answer would be yes. But I'm not male.

Yeah yeah, but still? A guy who's spend the last five minutes arguing that he doesn't know what to use, then proceding to find the right things without help and using them correctly. I know they aren't dumb, but jumping form one end of the scale to the other... it just makes me stop in the middle of the reading ^_^

Oh, well you hadn't mentioned before that he didn't even know what the stuff was for. Shit, he wouldn't even have it in the house, then! I fear for the rest of the story, I really do. {g}

I've read it... it did NOT get any better *g*

Yes. All men, straight or gay have lube in their drawer, or their glovebox, or their nightstand, or in a tree, or backpack, or by their hip, or it magically appears... or is brought to them by a third person who then participates/watches/helps out/is shocked/takes pictures/writes home to mother/goes bird watching....

Ahh, I was a bit unclear on that one -- thank you, I now need to go tell all the straight guys I know... imagine me trying to explain where THAT came from *g*

we could start a really interesting thread here, but somehow I think it might end up being TMI and I have the feeling the LJ community wouldn't survive our... posts

Any word used too frequently in one paragraph drives me nuts.

Also the several paragraphs all starting with the same word/few words, sometimes when I'm not really awake I can skip entire paragraphs if somebody has done that. Thus sometimes when I'm writing I can take ages re-writing a paragraph so it doesn't start with the same word(s) as those around it then realize that I should be changing another paragraph instead of this one.

As to what anybody keeps in their bedside drawer, if you have a drawer like mine virtually anything could be in there.

oh don't you worry. i had this convo/rant with an lj friend about synonyms used for penis in the fan fiction world and we came up with SO many of them that your monitor would not survive at all.

Does everyone have lube in their bedside drawer? I was thinking, especially straight guys?
haha! this is why i tend to avoid first time stories.

oh and since we're on the subject, i was discussing this on the phone with my best friend this afternoon. in a couple of fics i've seen jack and daniel being careful about leaving um traces - hickeys etc etc - on their bodies because janet would see. um, i was wondering, #1 janet isn't supposed to ask, is she? and #2 if say, jack has the marks on him, it's not a "look! daniel did this to me last night" kind of mark, right? he's entitled to a sex life about the base without everyone thinking that it's daniel or sam or teal'c. of course, the explanation could be that jack and daniel are paranoid, haha. am i rambling again? oops.

Why of course, all men keep unlimited supplies of condoms and lube in the bedside drawers at all times. That's why no women ever get pregnant and why no men ever catch STDs. Right? Am I right? *g*

Actually, one of the funniest stories I ever read was written by a gay male fan in Sentinel fandom. It was an absolutely hysterical first time story about what really happens the first time. Don't ask me for the story name or link as it's been years since I read it. It was, however, priceless!

What? You mean fumbling, elbows and knees where they shouldn't go? LOL -- That's the kind of first times *I* like to read -- though, as I do sometimes myself, I tend to take the easy way out.

I would love to read that fic from you. *sighs*

Hey wait! I still have to catch up on War Games from last weekend while I was at MediaWest. Yay! New [livejournal.com profile] ximeria fic!

Oh goodness, sorry, I haven't written much on War Games in the past week -- I've been working on [livejournal.com profile] ningyouhime's birthday present -- all I need for that one now is a beta -- she wanted smut, so she gets smut (the JD variety of course *g*)

and I might eventually finish the first-time-thingy *g*

I haven't written much on War Games in the past week

But see I haven't read last week's installments yet because I was at the con. So, even though they're not really new, they're new to me! Yay!

Lube is your friend, whether you're male or female. :)

AS for the other questions: rotfl. ;)

yeah yeah, I get the idea of lube *g*
but the other things? it's just when combined... it kinda makes me stop in mid-read *g*
