I've seen many a dumb thing...
But this had got to be one of the dumbest EVER ::shakes head::

I've been wondering just HOW 'don't ask, don't tell' works, but really, this is freaking stupid -- I'm going to bed before I lose the last shreds of trust in mankind...

Stupid Army
I agree with you. It IS the stupidest thing ever. I face very much the same kind of thing as that policy in my life as well. Teaching is one of those professions where you don't tell anyone you're gay. Because as you know *roll eyes* all gay people are automatically perverts and child molesters, and who would want those kinds of people anywhere near their kids.
*sighs* But don't get me started on that. It's part of the reason I've decided not to teach...I'm ready to live my life as just me, not "me the teacher" by day and "me the bisexual" by night...just want to be ME for a while.
*giggles* Ok I'll stop preaching. This is one of those subjects i go off on tangents about...I can't help myself. I even did it at a school board meeting *G* THAT didn't go over well...not getting hired in THAT school district! Ooopps!
Re: Stupid Army
But yeah, you know as well as I (me being bisexual as well), that homosexuality is contagious as well -- can't have 'normal' kids hanging around us, because you also know, if we don't moslest them, we turn them ^_~
Re: Stupid Army
But anyway, when they started talking about this one teacher and whether or not we were to hire them because they had heard "rumors about the personal side of life" *snerk* In other words they were poking around where they didn't have a right to poke thier noses...
But anyway my advisor suggested we leave, I grinned at him and said "You don't want me to make a scene huh?" He laughed. I told him we'd leave right after I said something. I got up and said, "I'm one of the teachers here to see if I'd like to apply for a job, but if this is what you think is a school board meeting...talking about peoples personal lives like a huge public rumor mill then forget it. I won't be sending my resume' here. Plus, I don't see what the big deal is. None of you can even SAY the word gay or homosexual so why do you think you have a right to talk so openly about something that makes no difference at all how this person teaches. Even if you DO subscribe to all of the absurd stereotypes I don't see the problem with our children learning to be more open to their emotions, developing fashion sense, and having an extrordinary eye for interior decorating! I'm tired of this argument. I have better things to worry about."
Then we left! LOL I can't help myself, I really can't. I walk that fine line between staying in the closet and blowing myself out of it like a human cannonball! Just another way we all can see I'm insane. I'm a very gentle and quiet person, until I have something important to say...then you better watch out! lol
Re: Stupid Army
I love that. I feel the same. I'm easy to be around until you smack into one of my little opinions (or big opinions *g*) and I become the immovable object LOL
And I can only say one thing about your board meeting... That was brave, but dammit, necessary!
