Fanish stuff:
Remind me to avoid sentinel AUs that are crossovers with Star Trek... ::goes to look for the damned melon scoop::
It might just be me who's so far out of Star Trek these days that the 'crossover' didn't really appeal to me. It's the kind of stuff that makes me gnaw at my nails just thinking about my own damn crossover. I bloody well hope it'll be okay once I finish it, edit it and ship it off to a beta or two... or three (yes, I'm paranoid when it comes to fanfic *g*)
RL stuff
I spent half the day yesterday with a couple of friends and in the evening I went to the zoo. I'd almost forgotten that on Thursdays during the summer holidays, they're open until 10PM -- I wish I'd swung by the apartment and picked up my digital camera, because the animals were at their finest *g*
At the entrance I nearly ran into one of the catta male who just doesn't know the meaning of staying inside the fence -- he always returns, but he's so curious he wants to go outside the fence.
The Desert Lynx was almost playful -- made me want to scratch him behind the ears. The female just rolled over and gave me this lazy look *g* -- the male however -- well, we spent a good five minutes staring each other down -- He made the cutest noises.
The Tiger and I pretty much had our own staring contest as well *g* -- there weren't that many people out there as late as 9PM, so I enjoyed it fully. Even the Lions were playful -- the lioness teaching the cubs to sneak and pounce. Looked so funny when the little cub pounced on her and she fell over, all four legs in the air, looking like she was having fun as well. The male lion was a bit loud at times -- I think he might've been bored.
nora_charles, sorry I didn't msg you back -- I ran out of battery on the cell -- yeah yeah,
goddessindia, about three hours after making fun of you having forgotten to recharge yours ::snort::

it's hard to think that the zoo, a good ten years ago, was only about one third the size it is now. I started getting season cards a couple of years back (it's only about the price of 3 or so tickets anyway). Since then I love spending late afternoons or early mornings out there with nothing but a sketch book.
If you do visit, make sure you see the penguins -- their place has artificial arctic light and they seem to take as much pleasure in watching us as we do them -- sometimes even more, standing against the glass and staring at us *g* -- they're so much happier now -- fooling around most of the time.

Re: zoo
but... they refuse to be cute when I DO bring the camera LOL -- they're a lot smarter than I give them credit for *g*
