okay, boys and girls, we're at it again -- I've got a couple of new invites for gmail -- anyone want a 1000mb inbox, searchable?

ETA
If you want one, just email me @ ximeria@gmail.com and I'll send the invite to that addy

And I swear, I'll get around to answering the past comments, but a cold seems to have taken over my body and I feel sluggish -- I'm not sure I'll sound too intelligent ::snorts:: if I try to reply without thinking ^_~

I changed the layout for the splashpage of my website -- figured it was about time ^_~ -- not all change is bad, ya know.

Oh, and fan related, I had a good time reading this:

Robert C. Cooper vows to "deal with" Jack/Daniel friendship - fans vow to stop watchingl

Anyone remember season six? Heck, anyone remember x-files? One should think they'd learned by now...

Warning: It contains a few possible spoilers for season 8's 'Threads' but it's well worth the read -- I'd love to say something similar, but like I said, my brain's a bit sluggish at the moment...

That essay was a good read. Thanks for posting a link to it! ^____^
I had no idea that sort of conversation and planning was going on about J/D. I always thought they were just sort of patronizing the slash fans, saying yes, you go ahead and see what you want- it doesn't really matter.
Now they're trying to crush the slash fans? Wtf?
If I wasn't frantically trying to pack, I'm sure I could make a much more intelligent, long rambling rant... but.... well.... hm. ^__^;;;

I'm not sure how serious the essay is, because some of the other stuff on the website is pretty funny and not very close to the show, but the essay made sense, yes -- and I got it off one of my ML -- yeah, they're still good for something ^_~

My brain's suffering the cold bug, so I can't for the life of me come up with anything half as good as that LOL

[identity profile] ctina.livejournal.com 2004-08-27 02:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The essay DID make sense. Frightening, horrible sense. O__o;;;
*kicks the upcoming episode Threads*

Aw... Feel better! ^___^ *hugs*

::dumps threads in trash can, does a re-write and slips it into the pile of scripts for season8::

::hugs back::

Yeah -- it was a clear, well formulated essay.

[identity profile] ctina.livejournal.com 2004-08-27 02:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I'm still in denial about Threads. I read spoilers for it a while ago, and I kept thinking to myself, "Naw... they're going to rewrite it, or do something different.... Something...."
But it will probably end up being horribly shippy, as it was written. *shudders*
Clear formulated essays are good. If I tried to write something like that, it would probably be in all fangirl!speak, with lots of exclamation points, and randomly capitalized words. ^___^;;;

ah, this is why I don't read spoilers - they tend to demotivate me from watching the show.

I *am* interested in the pure science-fiction and adventure part - this is why I started watching it, this is why I'm not interested in QaF; but when I get, straight ("har. har." to quote x5_536) from the producers, the idea that they feel a sort of bizarre enmity for us (we are the fans, for crying out loud!), it acts like a splash of water over my chalk drawings on the asphalt. *sigh*

[identity profile] ximeria.livejournal.com 2004-08-27 02:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yeah -- I only loosely read the 'threads' spoilers and I already knew that a few of the writers/producers are less than Daniel fans.

What I did like about the essay here was that it did state the reson why I watch the show -- I don't want to see Jack and Daniel shack up or anything -- that's what I have fanfic and a renegade imagination for -- I watch the show for the sci-fi part (seriously, I've never had a sci-fi show keeping me captured for so many years before).

Maybe they really fear that we're as 'bad' as the loudest of the 'shippers? That we have trouble seeing the difference between canon and fanon as well?

::sighs::

Yeah, someone should remind them that we're all fans -- I'm beginning to get the kind of vibes from back when they cancelled The Sentinel. I'm not saying that show was great -- it had some pretty big plot holes, but the producers wanted a different kind of viewer than they had and changed, changed then cancelled (they wanted the majority to be boys/men but the majority of the viewers were women *eg* -- hey, we know how to value buff guys when we get the chance).

what's gmail? I know it's a form of email, but what's so special about it? Sadly I still have a lot to learn about the internet.

I'd try to explain it if my brain wasn't slightly on the frizzier side of life at the moment *g*

It's still in beta, so they're easing users into it by letting the already existing ones invite them in.

Much better explanation than I can currently cook up LOL

wow i've never seen that site before...

interesting though, i agree with some stuff (like how i wish that you actually saw the gate.... turning) but it's hard to tell what is really serious and what isn't :\

oooh, me likey the new layout *pets it*

thank you, but yes, the only bad thing with the site is that the seriousness drowns in the fun

Heheh, thank you -- and I figured if for nothing else, the site would give a few people a laugh or two as well

laughs are always good *s* and I have to check the site out a bit better when I get the time :)

That essay WAS a good read- however, I am slightly afraid of this "Threads" episode.. x_x

I fear it as well -- I'm hoping it won't sucks as mightily as I fear. Though I do have my doubts with the current writers and producers...

I think they're doing a great job! Season 8 is good! Despite what others think- I don't think it's getting worse. The standard remains high, however, the only thing that saddens me is the lack of 'male-bonding' between jack and daniel since he has died- I mean, sure, I make it up in my sicksicksick mind, nothing can stop that :P But it would be nice to see some more.. 'interaction' there is a bit- but not as much as say, season 2 :)

On the upside, Michael Shanks alluded to the fact last weekend that there may be re-writes for the last 5 eps of S8 (which would include threads). The actors are strictly forbidden to talk about the eps.

I also know that they hadn't shot at least the last two eps of the season yet, since Don Davis mentioned that they were trying to work out some scheduling conflicts with him so he could appear. (It wasn't looking good at the time though.)

Oh well -- it's good to hear that there might be re-writes in the works -- that at least should give us a LITTLE hope... Well, I'm the eternal optimist *g*
ext_6610: (Default)

[identity profile] webbgirl.livejournal.com 2004-09-02 10:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Me too. Even after seeing the spoilers and hearing the bemoaning about the ep, I was actually still optimistic that the spoilers made things look much worse than they were.

Now with talk of re-writes and Sci-Fi definitely wanting a Season 9, I'm positively bouncy about it. ::remebers that bouncy isn't good for stomach flu::

no... no bouncy if you have stomach bug.
