Unless, of course, the aliens made them do it. Or the gate broke down and stranded them. Or (insert scenario 5,872,873 here) But in general, I don't think Jack would ever let his guard down enough to do it, and I think Daniel is too professional as well. Work is work, and in their line of work, not paying attention could get you killed or enslaved -- Jack's first focus, always, is security and protection.

Hmmm yes, you're right about that and I think that's what bugged me while writing. I mean, I wanted them to, my muses wanted them to, but somewhere it felt off -- and anyone who knows me knows that my pet peeve is characterization *g* there has to be a darned good reason for anything remotely out of character. -- I guess I can do the 'suspend your disbelief' thing, but as it is?`I think it's time I sat down and got in touch with the boys to get this to work a little better.

It depends: are they stranded off-world for a longer time? Yes.
Are they on a normal mission? No.
But I really like the alien festival-we-got-all-drunk-and-had-sex-scenario. Especially is it's outdoor sex.
I mean, if they let themselves get drunk, they obviously felt save enough to let their gaurd down, so why not have sex?
(I know that there is one excellent story that mentions that scenario, but I can't think of it right now. It could be by Quercus.)

I think you're right about the Quercus story. And yes, there'd have to be a darned good reason for them to do so. I guess it means me back to the drawing board because the boys sorta had so much fun they forgot about the no-off-world-nookie thing LOL

That's actually a loaded question, because see, technically, I can't really see them either give in to the temptation if it was canon - they're too much the professionals and they just wouldn't do that, not when they're on a mission. Then, someone else could actually argue that it would never be a problem because canon? They're not doing it anyway, which would be so very mean, btw, but whatever.

Having said that, and if I didn't completely lose you by now, when I read fics, I can eventually believe they'd do it off-world. If it's written well enough to make me believe that the settling and the situation would be credible within the story, it would do. I guess it all depends on how the story is written.

So yeah, I would say that no, I don't think they would do it, but if the story is right, I'll still be able to suspend my belief and go with the flow.

Thanks, Mouse. Yeah, it takes a lot to make it believable and I'm just anal retentive enough to pull the story back to the drawing board. I don't WANT to remove the sex -- and I get the feeling Nicci would kill me if I did, but it has to make sense that even if it's on a world where they aren't in danger, there are other SG teams in the area.

This, in my case, is followed by: Unless in extreme circumstances. IE. "Oh no! We're all by oursevles, stranded, and may possibly die here! You're lookin' sort of... niiiiice today....."
But I doubt there'd be any, "Quick! Let's hop behind the bushes and hump like bunnies while Sam and Teal'c are distracted by shiny things!" sort of situations.

Not to say that I don't like reading a good Offworld story, but I just don't think it would happen if J/D was canon. I also think they probably wouldn't do it at the SGC, for the same reasons of professionalism that they wouldn't do it Offworld. They're at work and it would probably put their relationship and jobs in danger if someone saw or found out.

No, I share your opinion here. Unfortunately, it seems my muses can't turn down a challenge and that means me back to the drawing board. Also, I fear Nicci would kill me if I took out the sex ^_~

Yeah -- I know -- I was baffled to see people really getting into this and I'm glad you all did. Sometimes when I'm writing I need a fresh POV to see my way through a story -- as it is, I can't remove the sex, because Nicci's gonna kill me if I do. On the other hand, I need to figure out WHY they take the risk they do. I mean, I can either completely push it into comeday, which would make it easier, or I need to get into Jack's mind again -- I love it in there, even if it is a scary place *g*

NEVER -- it would NEVER cross their clean minds...

Daniel and Sam? Maybe.

Sam and Janet? Perhaps. (I'm spoiled for Heroes, but denial is my middle name)

My real answer is that they'd sternly and responsibly resolve not to, but would cave under the right circumstances:

--emminent death, with nothing to be done about it.

--Aliens make them do it. :D (always good for a giggle)

--Extended period of solitude with nothing else to do and no danger conceivable.

--One or both missing for a period of time and reunited off-world unexpectedly.

--Nookie while under the influence or amnesiac. (Biblio's Pro Tempore is a favorite of mine.)

There are usually too many people nearby and too much to do for any of the team to nook around the other side of the wormhole. ;)

I've got other SG teams in the area, and they're STILL having sex LOL -- I'm gonna have to really get inside Jack's head for this one, because it's the only way to solve it.
