bitch bitch bitch

::chants: beta-readers are your friends, beta readers are your friends::
I've been reading DS fic -- and for some odd reason I decided to give the slash virtual season a go... it's okay, it is, but... too my delight there was an SG/DS crossover among them... Unfortunately I can't finish it because it's in a serious need of a beta-read... Channel Mountain instead of Cheyenne Mountain? But that's one thing... there are so many grammar errors that even I can't find the reading-flow to finish it.

::sighs::

And I normally love crossovers... Maybe I had my hopes too high -- and yes before you ask, we're getting close to THAT time of the month, maybe I should lay off reading fic until it's over LOL

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] etakyma, I'm sending over a flash fic in a bit, if you have the time for it -- if not, just let me know. it's less than 1,000 words.

Any story with that many errors doesn't deserve to be read. Your not being overly picky you just have standard.

Hehehe yeah, I guess. But you know, I'm really enjoying the fandom and I wanted fic so... But yeah, although my pet peeve is characterization (okay, the mentioned story wasn't high on that either), it seriously cramps the reading flow if you stop everytime there's an error/typo etc. I guess it's only good to HAVE standards. I know I used to read every SG fanfic I could get my hands on. My mistake, one that I still regret *g*

You see - what the DS fandom needs.... basically.... is YOU!

I'll try to get to it this afternoon, but I've got a performance tonight so if you don't hear from me until tomorrow it doesn't mean I'm blowing you off... I'm just a leeeetttllleee bit stressed (I remember my lines, I remember my lines, dagnabit there are only twelve of the suckers I *remember* my lines!)... I did a first pass and I *like* it! So definitely. If not a bit later than tomorrow!

take it easy -- and take it from me, you'll remember the lines LOL (I sing in a choir, it's strange how often I find myself NOT remembering the lyrics when I'm at home, but on stage it's not a problem) Whenever you find the time

That's the PITA about cross-overs. Very few writers know enough about canon in *both* fandoms. In some cases, the writers have never actually seen one of the shows, just pictures of teh pretties and they've read a bit of fanfic.
