A little fun and a bit of sadness

::raises green drink::
So sad to hear that Scotty has left us. ::sniffles:: I don't think I'll ever forget his voice and his broad smile, a fond memory from my childhood.

I think I'll take the sad thing with a bit of sugar:

Ask me for "top five" lists of pretty much anything, and I will list you my top five of that thing or things.

Copy to your journal and let everyone else ask you for lists.

How about the top five favorite lines from TOS?

Hehehe, I had to go double check the quotes to see if I recalled them right and because I couldn't remember the episode names (google is a wonderful thing LOL):

  • "Just before they went into warp, I beamed the whole kit and kaboodle into their engine room, where they'll be no tribble at all." - The trouble with Tribbles

  • "Random chance seems to have operated in our favor" -- Spock
"In plain, non-Vulcan English, we've been lucky" -- McCoy
"I believe I said that, Doctor" -- Spock - The Doomsday Machine

  • "Now this is a drink for a man." -- Scott
    "Scotch?" -- Checkov
    "Aye." -- Scott
"It vas inwented by a little old lady in Lenningrad." -- Checkov - The Trouble With Tribbles

  • "The best diplomat that I know is a fully-loaded phaser bank." -- Lt. Cdr. Montgomery Scott - A Taste of Armageddon

  • "Please, Spock, do me a favor ... 'n' don't say it's `fascinating'..." -- Dr. McCoy
"No... but it is... interesting..." -- Spock - The Ultimate Computer

*smiles* Those were good! I wasn't certain if you'd pull one of the I'm a doctor, not a ... out, but yes. V. good!

And lots of Scotty. Thanks!

Hehehe, I figured I'd see if I could remember any of other quotes, because the 'I'm a doctor, not a...' has been used so much -- I really just had to google for the correct quotes (my memory's not THAT good LOL) and to check which eps they were from. Aw, I miss the old show...

So you don't have the Season compilation DVDs, then? They even came in a cool case! ;)

::laughs::
No, I have a list as long as my arm of DVDs I'd love to have -- right now Due South is fairly high up *g*, and if some corporate buttheads could get their collective heads out of certain bodyparts, I'd put Sentinel on that list as well *g*

A-fucking-men to that. I can't watch it anywhere, and I didn't get to watch/record it before I realized it wasn't on the air anymore!

And actually, getting Stargate Sg-1 is right up there too... I can't wait for Season 8 compilation... *squee*

*amends*

In honor of James Doohan, I thought I'd suggest a Trek-related theme, hence the above comment. I think my all time favorite line of TNG was uttered twice in the 'Relics' episode... and "It is... green."

*sadness*
he was a great man in many respects, and his legacy will continue for many a generation yet...
he shall truly be missed

Sad news. He'd been unwell for quite some time.

Top five? Ooh, that's hard.
How about something cheerful? Please share your top five funny SG-1 or DS fic recs.
ext_31419: (Default)

Stargate first, DS will follow in a moment or two LOL

Okay, here goes:
SG

  1. Somewhere a Dog Barks (http://www.area52hkh.net/asd/dhdevice/dogbarks.php) by DH Device

  2. The Cosmic Joker (http://entropic-cascade.popullus.net/fanfic/sg-cosmicjoker.htm) by Nicci -- she and I share brains half the time, not surprisingly we share humour as well LOL

  3. Dr. Jackson's Diaries (http://www.versaphile.com/anais/January.shtml) by Anais -- it's weird, but funny (probably because it makes fun of badfic LOL)

  4. Actualize this (http://www.handbasketholidays.com/stories/actualize.htm), it's GEN and it's a freakishly funny crossover between SG/TS/invisible man by Helen Handbasket

  5. The Laundry Cycle (http://www.area52hkh.net/author.php?name=Widget) by Widget -- quirky fun

...and the DS recs

[identity profile] ximeria.livejournal.com 2005-07-21 11:13 am (UTC)(link)

  1. Three Days with Fraser (http://entropic-cascade.popullus.net/fanfic/ds-threedays.htm) by Nicci -- it hits the quirky insanity of the show perfectly

  2. Serendipity Style (http://squidge.org/dsa/archive/5/serendipitystyle.html) by Jonah in the Whale (part 2 (http://squidge.org/dsa/archive/5/serendipitystyle2.html)) labelled as gen/pre-slash, but squint and it's lovely, lovely slash LOL

  3. Chicago's Most Wanted (http://www.trickster.org/speranza/CMWanted.html) by Speranza -- odd but funny

  4. Parental Guidance (http://www.trickster.org/kass/parental.html) by Alanna, Starfish and Kass, just quietly funny *g*

  5. Without a Net (http://kellie.mrks.org/fic/ds/withoutanet.htm) by Kellie Matthews -- good, clean fun LOL

Most of all I hope you enjoy Nicci's. Heck, she's announced it's my fault she's in the fandom now -- and I've told her I'm proud of her LOL -- her sense of humour fits the series so damned well ^_~ (and lord knows she's shot to the top of the fandom as a manipper -- she outdoes most people out there LOL)

Nicci is one talented lady, and so are you, Xim!

Umm... Top five perverse things to do. (I'm sorry, I'm just in that mood. *g*) Feel free to interpret it any way you like.

Are we talking perverse or kinky?

[identity profile] arielblirup.livejournal.com 2005-07-21 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, as I wrote, you can interpret it as you like, but I do mean perverse, when I write it... *g*

For me, perverse could for instance be to get up at 6 am every morning out of your own free will. *g*
