Fav stories

I got to thinking (hey, don't laugh --- it happens... occasionally LOL)

I want something to read tonight, but don't just rec me any story you consider good. No, I want to know which of your OWN stories you consider your best. I'm feeling brave tonight, so I don't care what fandom you choose. Just let me know what, in your own humble (or not so humble *g*) opinion, is your best piece.

Oh yeah ::sighs happily::
I never got around to writing you fb on that one and for some odd reason, I missed the fact that it was yours! LOL

I love how it all clicks when Fraser finally knows that the carvings are about. It made the ending perfect and so well fitted I'm green with envy *g*

Cool :)

I was going to link you to my genderfuck Thing, just for a laugh, but I'm glad I didn't now :)

Nothing wrong with a good genderfuck *eg*

I've had more feedback about that story than the rest of my dS fics put together. It's a big scary phenomenon.

[identity profile] malnpudl.livejournal.com 2005-09-24 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, my. Are you sure? Because my best one is Buffyverse (Wes/Giles UST with a side of Buffy), and I don't think that's one of your fandoms so I'm not sure how well it'll work for you.

But if you really want to give it a shot: After 8:30 (http://www.livejournal.com/users/malnpudl/13752.html)

This is a brilliant idea, by the way. I may steal it from you one of these days. :-)

Oh, I know enough about the buffyverse *g* -- I didn't dump the series until late season 6 hehehe -- Oh, and can I just say that THAT story? Mmmmmmm lovely. Good Wesley voice and I find Giles absolutely impossible to resist as well *g*
::now as dirth three-some thoughts::

Thank you kindly for sharing the link ^_^

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback! I'm delighted that you liked it. :-)

Oooh, I like this idea. If I stole this later, so I could have some reading material for my business trip in October, would you mind? *g*

I think my best story is horribly sad, so I don't usually point folks toward it. (Unmade) So instead, I guess I would say Ciphers (http://www.lyricalmagic.com/ciphers.html).

Well, I remember 'Unmade' and it's definitely your best. It tore my heart out to read it (in the best possible way.)

Ciphers is... fascinating. I went and re-read it -- it's been ages since I read it the first time, so I had to refresh my memory. And yes, it's definitely on my list of your best stories as well *g* -- I love a well-written plot above everything else. You don't just have a great plot, but great characterization as well, so I have absolutely no complaints *g*

Thanks for the recs and feel free to use the idea. I figured instead of getting the same recs over and over, it'd be more fun to see what you people favoured among your own stories. ^_^

Hrm. I usually answer this sort of question with one particular story, but today... meh. No, not my favorite right at this moment. Today, right now, my favorite story I've written is Wraithcall (http://elke.slashcity.org/lotr-wraithcall.html), LotR genfic, set in the movieverse with a few extra details from the books.

Oh that scene in the movie AND in the book... it's definitely the stuff nightmares are made of. A good shiver down the spine is what it gave me. You do, as always, have a great grasp on storytelling and this one had an almost lyrical feel to it.

::stuffs story into the keeper-folder::

Thank you kindly for your rec. And now you have me curious as to which fic you'd normally recommend *g*

Okay, you asked for it. Bring your handkerchief.

Veil of Silence (http://noelgoddard.slashdom.com/QLstories/veilofsilence.html) (QL, Sam/Al) - appeared in 1996 in the zine Beyond the Yellow Brick Road (an absolutely amazing zine IMHO)

Awww, yeah. Definitely a kleenex-fic -- and I remember enough QL to enjoy it ^_^

Thank you kindly for the rec. It goes into the fav folder *g*

Awwww...

Glad you enjoyed it.

My favorite as of right now is Silk, but it's not in any of your fandom, so I don't know if you'll like. It's a Devil May Cry story with a pair of twins, Dante and Vergil.

Otherwise, in SG-1, my favorite is Moonlight Mass.

Hey, I said regardless of fandom and yes, I do know both Dante and his dear brother *g* AND I enjoyed Silk very much *g* -- you're a dirty woman, that's why I adore ya *g*

Feed the wolf a donut, huh? Well, let's see. I know it's probably a bit late, but I'm gonna have to recommend something from Static Shock: Through the Glass, Darkly. It's long, but it's a wonderful story.

[identity profile] ximeria.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
well, I'm bookmarking it -- I'm being swamped by plot bunnies at the moment *g* -- however, just a quick question. Static Shock? Any explanations I should have before reading?

[identity profile] seikaitsukimizu.livejournal.com 2005-09-28 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally understand the plotbunny thing (Umi! Smash the Mokona clones!), and I have homework and RPGs on top of them. *sighs*

Static Shock is owned by DC Comics. It's set in the Justice League (Superman/Batman/Flash/Etc) universie in a city called Dakota where, yup, the teenagers have developed powers due to metagenic gas.

Static is the teen that becomes the town hero, with power over electricity (natch). His (creator endorsed) gay best friend later gains super intelligence, and becomes Static's partner: Gear. Tis slasherific. *grins*

In fact, some of the lines you could easily imagine coming from Sheppard and McKay. But "Through the Glass, Darkly", even if you aren't familiar with the series, is an excellent story, well thought-out and deeply complex. And if ya wanna know more about Static, there's a website in my bookmarks somewhere that goes more indepth with everything...
