I had a hankering for Remy/Bobby fics tonight and decided to google it -- my mistake ::snorts::

I found one and will someone please tell me how someone can describe Bobby as 'petite brunette'? In the old days when I read comics, he was closer to blonde and he weren't petite. He might not have been as tall as the other guys, but petite? I don't think so. On top of it, the fic was sugary sweet and everyon encouraged her because they thought it was sooooooo gooooood ::groans::

Makes me want to write dirty Bobby/Remy, it really does. Same way that sweet Mal/Simon in the ff fandom makes me want to write dirty Mal/Jayne LOL

I've given up on the X Men fandom. There are so few good stories and you have to read tons of sappy, bad stories in the process.

Then again sappy Remy/Bobby are still better than Logan/Remy where Remy is a 12 year old, crying at every moment, always raped/abused/beaten/left for dead, has no will to live and the only cure is for Logan to screw him. *sigh* I wouldn't even mind the sap if they remembered that these are people that save the world on a regular basis, which pretty cool powers.

OH yeah, I know exactly what kind of fics you're refering to. It doesn't really matter which fandom you take, because they all do it. There's always a fraction of writers who think that sex solves all.

The key word is fraction. I've read my fair share of weeping Daniel, but the problem with the Logan/Remy is that almost all of them are like that. Scarred me for life.

So, yeah, go head and write X Men, and I can finally read stories without fearing for my mental well-being. :)

I'm gonna have to tab into a resource I haven't used for ages. I mean, the first Remy/Bobby I wrote was written in fun, as was the Kurt/Logan one afterwards. Yeah, I think I can dig that muse out again LOL

Oh my god, yes! (Sorry for chiming in. Got pointed here by [livejournal.com profile] matsujo9.)

I don't MIND sweet Bobby/Remy. Really, I don't. But for the love of all that is good and chocolatey, Remy isn't a puppy! He's not going to turn into some...I don't know. Gah. It's just like he loses every bit of his personality after Antarctica (which is when most of these are set) and is so fucking skittish that Bobby has to treat him with kid gloves. They had a relationship before then, people! It wasn't romantic, no, or even sex (most likely). They were the jokers in the pack and they have things in common! *grrs and swears she's going to get her own Remy/Bobby done one of these days*

And also. Bobby is 5'8". That's not petite. That's short for a man. As for the hair...well, at UXM.net (http://www.uncannyxmen.net), the spotlight on Iceman says that's he has brown hair and blue eyes. But I've always figured it was more 'dark blonde' than actually brunette. That may just be because of the way a friend plays him, though.

Hehehe, hey, always feel free to comment around here. The more the merrier. I used to write X-men for a short time and although I can do sweet, I don't do angst very well LOL so I just can't write Remy as a skittish little thing. To me he's always been witty and strong and beneath the surface he's a troubled personality, but he's a man who worries about his friends and does try to do the right things in life.

[identity profile] yoritomo-reiko.livejournal.com 2005-12-10 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh...free reign, hmm? *goes ahead and adds you to her friends list so that she'll actually be able to remember stuff like this*

See, I can honestly see Remy being skittish, but it would only serve to bring that witty, strong, 'devil-may-care' mask up stronger to hide behind. There aren't that many people he would open up to, and getting in under those masks would be a massive pain in the arse. Three of those people are in New Orleans (Mattie, Jean-Luc and Mercy are the three I count).

Angst isn't too bad. What's bad is that so many 'authors' tend to turn it into 'wangst' and just never let Remy actually shine. Yeah, the Cajun may be broken, but he's not going to let people see those cracks!
