X-men movieverse AU *eg*

Nah, just the opening for one, so you can tell me if it sucks or should be carried on. AND because I got to musing what a young Remy would look like, getting to the school.

There are no spoilers as such for the movie, although this takes place after X3

Bobby leaned against the banister, letting his mind drift in the late afternoon quiet. Most of the others were doing their homework and he kind of needed a little time on his own.

"Don't let it get to you, kid."

Bobby sighed and turned his head a little. "I'm trying not to."

"She'll be back before you know it," Logan said, leaning against the banister as well, lighting one of his ever present cigars.

"I just don't see why she had to go off again," Bobby said quietly.

"None of you kids have had an easy time," Logan replied gruffly. "Seems she just needed a little time on her own."

"Doesn't make it any easier," Bobby said, a hollow laugh in his voice.

"No... it really doesn't," Logan agree, putting a hand on his shoulder.

A car pulled into the driveway and Logan leaned forward a little. "Storm's back from New Orleans," he mused.

"Too bad she couldn't take the blackbird," Bobby said. "I'm sure it'll be easier to do all this when we've gotten a new one."

"Won't be too long," Logan agreed. "Hmmm, she's not alone."

"Why was she going there anyway?" Bobby asked curiously. He pushed the ache of Rogue running off again into the back of his head.

"We had a call from a friend of the school who'd heard a few things. Don't know if half of it was true, but from the things we'd heard there was a pretty strong mutant on the loose down there." Logan made a noise in his throat. "Dunno how good an idea it was bringing him here if half of it is true."

"Because at least here he'll be with people who'll understand him?" Bobby asked as he leaned forward too, to get a better look as the car pulled to a halt.

Logan made a noncommittal sound.

Downstairs the car doors opened and Storm got out first. On the other side of the car, a pair of long legs encased in faded, worn denim were stretched out. A pair of scuffed boots completed the look. The guy who got out of the car was lanky in built, probably around 19-20 years old and with unruly auburn hair.

Standing next to the car, the guy reached inside and pulled out a battered old gym-bag. As he stood, Bobby held his breath. The face was sharply defined, high cheekbones and a mouth twisted into what seemed a constant sardonic half-grin. The eyes were covered by a pair of dark sunglasses and Bobby felt a little cheated.

As if his thoughts had been heard, the lanky teen took the glasses off and put them into a side-pocket of the bag before slinging it over his shoulder. He looked around, his posture exuding the kind of attitude that normally set Bobby's teeth on edge. The kind that mostly spelled trouble for everyone else.

Instead Bobby cocked his head to the side and drank in this stranger's street-wise cockiness. The hand on his shoulder tightened at the same time as the newcomer looked up, staring directly at Bobby.

"Whoa," Bobby muttered when he caught the eerie shade of the eyes watching him curiously.

The teen tilted his head to the side and licked his lips lightly, not for a moment breaking their eye-contact. The corners of his mouth lifted a little more, the lips curving into an inviting grin.

"There goes the neighborhood," Logan muttered, before pulling Bobby back toward the door.
