Amazing

Wow... I never knew. Check out the member count at the bottom of the profile page of [livejournal.com profile] fandom_counts -- and no, I'm just too tired of reading about the LJ purging to go on about it here. Seems some communities are back online again.

Wow. That total's gone up by over two thousand since I got online three hours ago. I'm so impressed!

Oh yeah -- it just exploded. I'm amazed, really.

It is impressive... But I'm afraid of the possiibility of using it as a weapon against the fandom.

...But maybe I'm just a bit paranoid =_= (I was sick of worry yesterday ><)

Which is understandable. I mean, I'd hate to lose all the fun stuff I've posted over the years, even moreso the comments, but at least I can say that all my fic is safe and sound, a copy on the harddrive and a full copy on the website as well. I do remember life before LJ LOL

Yes, I also do. But I wouldn't like to lose all my comments, livejournal entries, etc =_=. And I'm happy that they finally came to their senses, but I didn't even think before that Livejournal could start this kind of witchhunting :/

LJ, nope. But Six Apart who bought them a couple of years back? Oh yeah. They're corporate with a cap C. I'd love to say that I'm suprised by how they handled, but I'm not entirely. Brad, who normally heads LJ is unfortunately on vacation -- he's gonna be pissed when he gets back.

And I keep wondering how is it possible that someone from LJ-staff could have started such thing like Strikethrough WITHOUT informing LJ's headguy...

Exactly. I just can't see that he could've known because he's normally been on our side. The LJ project is his baby. I can only cringe at the fact that someone there started this mess, like a knee jerk reaction. It shouldn't be possible for something like this to happen, yet it did. LJ's image sure got a little dented this time, and I don't think people will forget so easily. Forgive, possibly, forget? I doubt it.

"...In other words if you want a community that burns books, does not like science fiction, suppresses talk about sexuality, or anything that departs from a norm defined by a US pressure group, then Live Journal is the place for you. It is a pity you missed Germany during the 1930's you would have loved it."

So then, nearly 30,000 - is that a town called fandom then?

*grin*
