Travel Fever

Memory like a sieve - AKA what I need to remember when going across to the beautiful (and possibly wet) Scotland:

  • T-shirts, Jeans, underwear, night stuff

  • DVDs

  • Swimwear

  • gifts

  • recipes - nah, got them online XD

  • money/passport/wallet

  • BOOKING NUMBER!

  • Charger for cell phone. I know Nicci's got a converter for ther power part. I gave her one for her coffee grinder *g*

  • notebook and sketchbook and pencilcase

What am I forgetting?

And no, I'm too lazy to bring a rain jacket. I sweat like a pig in a rain jacket. I need a fucking poncho instead. Seriously. I figure I might find one when I come across. *is lazy*

What I need to buy, but still haven't gotten around to.

I need something for Ben. I wonder if Nicci has any ideas. I've already gotten both girls a little something, specifically Danish, so I wonder if I can find something for Ben. Maybe tomorrow night? I'm meeting [livejournal.com profile] goddessindia at the zoo. They're open until 10PM. Maybe I can get him something odd from around here XD

Waterproofs - essential! Though this year Scotland's had it pretty good compared to the rest of the UK - it can't last.

And insect repellant and bit cream, if you're going into the highlands. Sun protection on the offchance... (o:

Though you're probably best getting stuff over here.

Urm... Power adaptor?

Yeah, I guess the insect repellant would be a good idea, but yup, can buy that over there *g*

Sun protection I've got, aloe vera gel as well if I do end up burned -- although I don't burn easily. I might be Scandinavian, but I've got enough Spanish in my blood to keep me from burning easily *g*

Power adaptor, Nicci's got one. I sent one with the coffee grinder I gave her for Christmas LOL

Given the weather we've been having lately, flippers and a snorkel might not be OTT....

Not sure what part of Sctland you're visiting, but if you seriously want a rain poncho, Edinburgh Cycle Co-op have this :-

(I tinyurl-ed it because the original is about three miles long)

I know that model yes, but I just realized I can get them cheaper here in Odense, so I might go find one today. I need to go downtown anyway. I realized I haven't got any name tags for my luggage *g*

And flippers and a snorkel you say? Sounds a little like around here. It's kinda fun, because Denmark and Scotland seem to have a lot of the same weather XD

If they've had anything like as much rain in Scotland as we have down here it mightn't be such a bad idea :-) And if you were going to Hull or Sheffield, it'd be an absolute necessity....

It gets harder and harder to remember that this time last year I was sitting in a baking stuffy office, wishing for air conditioning...

When I went to Scotland, I took a light jacket that was waterproof. Scottish rain won that battle though. It scoffs at American claims of waterproofing. ;)

Ah yes, but let's not forget, I'm from Denmark, we are (unfortunately) not strangers to heavy rain. The other day I was out shopping, the sun was shining when I went to the mid city shopping area, I went into a store, five minutes later I wondered why it'd gotten so dark, looked outside and the heavens went WHOOOOOSH. I'm just glad I hadn't come out of the store yet LOL

It reminded me a bit of how it must've rained in the bible in the part about Noah... XD

[identity profile] catspaw-sgjd.livejournal.com 2007-07-04 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
It's rained so much recently, you could probably just about walk across by now :-( But that's good - this can't *possibly* keep up for your visit!

::crosses fingers that this isn't famous last words::

Oh, and if that was my list, the missing thing would be 'laptop' *g*

Looking forward to meeting you! You get that dubious honour some time next week, depending on my shift pattern, which I still haven'e checked ;-) Meantime, travel safe :-)

*bounces around*

I've got the travel jitters now, alright. I've packed my main luggage, made sure I have most of the stuff I need. I'm going shopping in about an hour for the last tidbits, and off to the zoo tonight if the weather is for it. Considering that Danish weather is tryint to rival Scottish... it might not work out. I just need that little trip tonight to stay sane LOL

And yes, looking forward to seeing you too ^_^

For Ben, how about a sketch pad and some good pencils. YOu can never get them interested in art too soon, don't you agree? :)

[identity profile] ximeria.livejournal.com 2007-07-05 07:23 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, Ben's not into that sort of thing. He's a gadgets kind of kid. Now the youngest of the girls is something entirely different alright. She's already into low level slash/shonen-ai, entirely on her own LOL

Bet ya her momma's proud of her ^_~

[identity profile] arielblirup.livejournal.com 2007-07-05 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
How about toiletry? And a ticket? Maybe an adress book for all the postcards you are going to send? *hint hint*

You could also bring them some Spunk.

-And for the boy: How about LEGO?

Oh, and have a nice trip!

[identity profile] ximeria.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, I brought spunk and skildpadder -- and toiletries are a given, even if I did forget the paste. Then again, I'm in a civilized country, I can get what I need around here.

Nah, I'm opting for giving him a gift certificate for the local cinema. He loves that kind of stuff and there are a lot of movies this summer/fall that he'd like to watch. You and I both know that such behaviour should be supported LOL

And thank you kindly for the wishes. I'm sure we'll be having fun. We're going out to Falkirk today, to a market and to see the Falkirk wheel ^__^

[identity profile] arielblirup.livejournal.com 2007-07-07 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I just couldn't see toiletries on your list, and it's such an easy thing to forget at least part of (as I see you have *g*) because it *is* so essential, so I just thought I'd mention it.

And oh, yeah, the movies are a hit!

Speaking of vacations, I have about two days before I leave for Alaska and Canada... I'll be in the Yukon for the better part of a day, but just one. You'd said you'd wanted a post card again this trip, but I didn't know where you wanted it from, or what. I've slept since then, and my brain reformatted itself.

I'm glad you had fun with Nicci in Scotland... I was avidly following along as best I could with dialup.

[identity profile] ximeria.livejournal.com 2007-07-20 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, if you have time for postcards, then I'd love it, no matter where it's from. I wanted to ask for your address before I headed off, but as always, I tend to forget to write postcards, which tends to annoy my friends, but hey, it's my vacation. Same thing goes to you. If you can find the time for it, I'd love one, if not, I'd just like detailed descriptions of your vacation *g*

I'm glad you've been enjoying the few posts I've done from Scotland. Now that I'm home, I've had time to compress and post all my photos, or at least the good ones.

[identity profile] audaxfemina.livejournal.com 2007-07-21 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Greatness. I am currently waiting for the bus to the ship... but I hope the address I have for you is still good. I will be in the Yukon in a few days and I had planned to send both you and Nicci one from there. See you when I get back!

[identity profile] ximeria.livejournal.com 2007-07-21 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Have a safe trip and have fun! Will be here when you get back, since I'll be back to working 5 days a week *g*

[identity profile] audaxfemina.livejournal.com 2007-07-31 12:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Am back. I seriously need to go to bed as I'm two time zones different and just got off an overnight flight, but I had so much fun... stole some sand from the shores of Lake Bennett, but you'll keep my secret, right? :)

Many pictures. Will upload when can.
