First impressions -- TW S02E08 - A Day in the Death

I don't know about you guys, but I actually find Owen's un-dead personality more appealing than his old one. *g*

Right, so a quick runthrough of my first impression of the episode. It was better than I thought'd it'd be. Seriously.

Iliked that for once Jack took the background, I liked that the team was more competent and I liked that Owen was trying to deal with his new state of being. As much as I disliked Jack's choice of taking him off-duty, I realized that it would be for the best. I found it chilling that any injury Owen would get, wouldn't heal. Ever. And his words to Jack, bitter ones, about how Jack would live forever, while Owen would die forever. It definitely brought home how bad Owen was feeling. Also? Getting rid of anything that he wouldn't need, food, toiletries, toilet paper... it helped drive it home, just how bad it was.

Right, that's about what I have time for this morning. Safe to say, I found the scene between Ianto and Owen interesting. About how Owen lashes out, mentioning that Ianto's in the field more, shagging the Captain and Ianto reacts to that last line. "It's not like that between Jack and me." Either, he's protesting because he's got his own worries about exactly that, or he... well, that's sort of what got stuck in my mind. Maybe he's still worried that that's all he is to Jack. A convenient shag... That would go a long way in explaining the look on his face. It was a nice mirror to the scene with the rift machine where Ianto shot Owen in S1.

The preview of next week? Looks like fun *g*
