First impressions of From out of the Rain, TW S2E10
Just a quick little one before I head off to work.
Did I once say it would never turn into the Jack and Ianto show? Sorry. Seems I was wrong XD
Nah, this was a good episode. I liked the Night Travellers idea, enjoyed that myth and reality was woven together. What I also enjoyed was that the whole team was involved even with Jack and Ianto doing most of the running around.
So yes, the new metaphore is 'Local Knowledge' *laughs* -- I love how that one came from Gwen when Jack says: 'Ianto, you're with me, I need your local knowledge', Gwen: 'Oh, is that what you're calling it these days?'
The idea of something coming out of an old film, entering our world and on top of that, something like the Night Travellers set on stealing your breath away, quite literally. A pretty scary idea.
There wasn't much explicit in the way of Jack and Ianto, but I didn't even miss it. They were on the case together and they work very well together. I love seeing how well they fit in that aspect. Actually, the whole team when possible. But today, in this ep? I especially liked that Jack was the one coming up with a solution and whatever he needed in the way of odd knowledge, he could rely on Ianto to pull it out of that amazing memory of his.
Oh, and hearing about Ianto's childhood? Is always a plus in my book. How he used to come to the Electro as a child, and the sweet look of fond memories when he says it. And I wonder if this job will ever break him. One could say that him crying over the loss of the breaths in the flask was a bit over the top, though I didn't think so. He might not show his emotions quite so often, but to me it makes more of an impact because it happens so rarely.
I think this will be one of those episodes I'll be rewatching.
