Copenhagen trip may 2009
"The country mouse in the big city
aka. an ode to mobile GPS and fangirl nergasms (it's so a word!)
So, yeah, I went to Copenhagen yesterday to meet up with
sorciere who lives there. Much fun was had and much walking was done.

Friday morning, barely awake at 6.30, I wandered the flat, wondering what I'd forgotten to dump in the backpack.
You know, apart from the magical raincoat. Which, Nicci, I'm sorry to say, only seems to be magical in Scotland. It did rain in between.
Back to the morning. Train out of Odense, bound for the bigger city of Copenhagen... A day I'd decided to start by walking from the railway station to the zoo. Roughly 3.5 km.

I took pictures of churches too, because I know
nicci_mac enjoys them muchly

I came by this at the museum. It's a model of Copenhagen roughly from 1500. It was even complete with miniature gallows *g*

1st time for the exclamation of: Thank the deities for mobile GPS" or I'd most definitely been lost when I decided it would be a good idea to walk through Frederiksberg Have. The GPS still led me an odd way around but it got me to the zoo. Sort of. It got me to the office.... on the wrong side of the zoo. Oh well, I got there, stood in line for 20 minutes to get in. Thankfully for free, as my season card for our own zoo is valid for Copenhagen zoo for the rest of the year.
Note to self. Don't leave dirty prints on the camera lense... *smacks self and rolls eyes*
Anywho, polar bears, brown bears (who did not want to have their photo taken), wolves and cats. ^___^
Still due to the walk from the station, through the park, combined with my row with the GPS, I had time from 11.45 - 13.30 at the zoo. Including the insanity of climbing the tower they have there. Never. EVER. Again. *winces and massages thighs*
Hey, it was worth the climb to get the view...

It seems to say: I'm rather adorable, aren't I?

The wolves were up in arms about something, because they were making a racket like you wouldn't believe it. I thought I'd leave because they were up in the back somewhere, but suddenly they did come out.

Don't be fooled. He's looking at the spectators, obviously contemplating dessert...

Best LOLcat EVER! *laughs*

Best angle I could get, but he's looking sooooo peaceful.
And because the ticketron decided to screw me over, it took a while to get a ticket for the metro. Frederiksberg to Nø:rreport and I had a delay of only 5 minutes, me thinks. Text from
sorciere: wearing a black coat, orange/pink floral print skirt and hair in a bun.
*waves madly*
Good thing fangirls don't bat an eye when someone short bounces up and down and waves at them *grins*
She took me along to a small Coffee & Jeans bar, as she recognized the caffeine withdrawal of yours truly. Admirable trait in someone who does not herself drink coffee.
*insert fannish and geeky talk*
Heh, she even had a disc for me with a variety of goodies on *beams*
Then we took a walk along the shopping street "Strøget", went through Illum and Fona 2000 (yes, I have less backbone than a boiled noodle) and I now own Kill Bill 1&2, Legend of the Earthsea (anime version), 300 and Hellboy...
After such hard hunting practices, we went out to get some ice cream. Nomnom *g*.

And then it rained. While the sun still shone and half the sky looked really dark and beautiful.
I warned her not to take me down to Faraos Cigarer, one of the stores specializing in comics and books (I came away with a bargain on a hugeass DK book about Marvel and the history behind it. A beautiful tome.) I have no restraint WHATsoever *g* -- then we swung by the other store to look at live RP weapons (such as bows) as well as assorted armor often of the leather variation *g*
I think we have long since established that I can be a nerd sometimes and I embrace my nerddom.
So, we finally said our goodbye and I set the GPS (a lifesaver once again, as I'd somehow managed to get myself turned around XD) and headed for Tivoli, intending to spend the last couple of hours there having dinner, taking photos and drinking coffee...

Taking photos along the way, the Royal Danish Theater - or rather, above the entrance.
I found a place in Tivoli called Mamma Mokka Extra, ordered and guzzled a french soda (passion fruit), a cup of coffee and a bloody good salmon sandwich. All this I did sitting outside under huge umbrellas with heaters and blankets. Watching it RAIN again *g*
So, still had time after leaving Tivoli behind and went to the Railway station. Went into Ritazzo and had a machiato double shot espresso *grins*
Tivoli was ok, even if it's more fun with others and when hitting the rides XD - BUT, I still enjoyed it muchly.

The huge windmill in the background is partly there to cause awareness of wind-energy. A colab with Vestas
Spending the ride home working my way through Temeraire book 2 and very much enjoying it.
And I haven't forgotten about the links I promissed you,
sorciere. I'm going to dig those out tomorrow.
For those interested, the full post of four sets of photos are here. There are very few descriptions on the photos at the moment, as I'm just too knackered to add those as well at the moment *grins* - I've been at a one-day festival today. Went out around 1PM and came home around half past midnight. I've had a lot of sun, and it's not all that much fun, trust me. I'll be paying for that tomorrow XD
