Day trip - Glasgow: Kelvingrove
On the Sunday, we had talked Cats into joining us for a trip to Glasgow. We left from Dunfermline, she from Edinburgh and met up at around 11 in Glasgow. Then we went on a bumpy ride with the subway (jeez, I miss the Copenhagen metro - with its nice and smoothe glide).
Then a short walk from Kelvinhall station to Kelvingrove park and the museum. It's a nice museum, but there's a lot of stuff crammed into a very small place - of course that's really half the fun *g*. There was also an incredible amount of toilets!
Right, so on to the pictures - and go ahead and view the full set of 70+ pictures on Flickr, because there's a lot more than I'll submit you guys to in a single LJ post *g*

Kelvingrove Art & Gallery - just as it was starting on a light drizzle!

Fossils all over the place - and I do like dinosaur exhibits.

Rawr *does an Eddie Izzard impression*

Spitfire

The building itself is absolutely brilliant when it comes to architectural detail.

One of the details was this one figure of a woman - I like the small smile - the other side sported another woman, with a contemplative look on her face

"The Harpy Celaeno" - I fell in love with the detail on this statue.

The handle on a jug - so detailed and lovely

And because this is Scotland and I gave you the grave of Robert the Bruce - have William Wallace as well *g* (the guy that the Braveheart movie depicts as Braveheart, but who isn't SURPRISE the right one - bloody Hollywood and bloody Mel Gibson and his fake history).

This huge pipe organ is still in use - we sat and enjoyed a recital in the afternoon - including a disney medley... don't ask - and while the recital was amazing - the coffee I'd bought? Horrible.

Ben's words: Stop seeing gay stuff where there isn't any! Us: But there is 'gay stuff' in it! *laughs arse off*

Part of the armor exhibit was on how armor was inspired by things in nature - I'm not sure I want to know what inspired this helmet, though O.o

for those liking armor exhibits - the place has a really good one.

And just for Nicci and Cats - because they'll get the reference LOL

So all around a good day - and I'd say that the museum is well worth visiting.
