The day where Scotland shut down
aka. our planned trip to Stirling Castle went south, all thanks to the bloody queen *rolls eyes*
This picture sums up the day rather nicely XD
We set out in the morning, heading first to Callendar to drop of Bex at her friends house so they could spend the day playing with ball-jointed dolls. All set, we headed toward Stirling (or Stiriling, as the posh sat-nav pronounced it).
that would be when the day started going down the drain XD - see, we came to Stirling and finally found our way into the town - and what happens? We get turned away from the castle because the bloody queen's visiting! Come on! Opening again? Yes, after 3PM - not waiting around for that, so we decided, after pitstopping at the park and drive because we needed a pee and a pow-wow, that heading up to Dunblane instead, would be a good idea.
Getting to Dunblane (after detouring the wrong direction on the motorway *sniggers') we found our way up to the cathedral and parked. Only to learn that the cathedral was shut for an hour XD (seriously - not funny XD). Neil hit the high street for book stores and what-not and Nicci and I went walking in the rain. First thing we saw on the path? the above sign XD.
When we came back, I wanted to detour around the toilets opposite the cathedral and was met with this:
Safe to say, by now the number of jokes about the queen etc went up *g*
Right-o - let's get to the images - the river through Dunblane, the cathedral and at the end, Wallace Monument, which we swung by at the end of the day. We ended the day at an Indian restaurant - and all the way there, we joked that the bloody queen would probably have decided to dine there, just to spite us! (Don't worry, it wasn't shut and the food was fantabulous).

PS we're going to Glasgow on Sunday with Cats, and I'll be mightily annoyed if things are shut down because of the queen LOL

Well, I think Neil was the only one really upset about it - he'd looked forward to see Stirling Castle that day and while Nicci and I just find other photooportunities, he is not as diverse in taste.
We did all manage to make fun of it all the way home, though, so even with the altered plans, we had fun.
