Dear [personal profile] lysanatt,

You know how to make the BEST care package XD - for the spring troubled people especially (and the Pichu's ears are very relaxing to rub).

This is how I feel currently about spring and about trees:

I feel like shredding my face and my eyes several times through the day. If anyone else says to me: "Isn't it lovely, it's getting warmer and the trees are going green." I. Will. Kill. Them. With. Fire!

This has been brought to you from those of us who are allergic to the fuckers. Don't ask us how lovely spring is. Just hand over the tissue when we start sneezing. At least I'm not allergic to grass. Those who are allergic to both tree pollen and grass pollen? You have my deepest empathy.
ximeria: (Default)
Not sure how much more than a week but yeah. Been good, been fun (work is sucking my brain out and pollen season's started :( ). So good times!

Been finishing the posting of the old star trek fic, so that one's out of my digital drawer. Have been loosely plotting the X-men trek-fusion - which should be fun!

Still keeping up with the twice-a-month posting of short stories (still all x-men, not going to change that).

Heading off to the Lake District in May for a weekend get-away with some lovely people I don't see nearly often enough *g*

On the list for the year I have an entry of 'learn something new' - not sure what that will be - Ruby maybe? Android app development?, knitting/crocheting? The sky's the limit ;)

Just spent the evening watching Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and enjoyed it lots. I know the book but wasn't sure how the movie was going to be.

Tomorrow: off to see Logan. I have been warned to bring kleenex O.o

This is a story that goes as far back as early 2013 where I felt I couldn’t finish it. Or rather, edit it and get it posted. So here it is, it’s a way of getting it off my GDoc drive so I can get started on my xmen Trek AU *g*
ximeria: (MISCH - xyborg)
I hope you are all doing well.

What are you all working on? If anything?

I'm quietly enjoying posting the twice-a-month X-men stuff - still having far too much fun with AUs *g* - I have a GDoc with ideas - and it keeps growing O.o - though one has been pulled back out of it. Not because I don't like the idea after all, but because I realized that it might actually have more than just that one scene, short-story idea that the whole project is based on.

Even with the 2014 writing project where I wrote and posted one fic-a-week, I realized I didn't do any sci-fi - as in, space sci-fi - which is sort of strange, because it's one of my all time favourite genres.

Well, some time this year that will probably change, because I've been bitten by a Star Trek fusion bunny for x-men - not that it hasn't been done before, but I haven't done it before and the more I went over the idea in my head, the more plotlines turned up.

So, aye, gonna write a trekfusion this year XD

The big-ass Warehouse 13 fusion is still in beta.

I might also dig an old actual Star Trek fic out of the drawer - it has needed editing so hard that I've kept just stuffing it back in, but I sort of miss the idiots (Kirk, Spock and Bones). So I might just go back and have another go at it at some point.

Apart from work, of course, which is bonkers as always (I do love my job, but currently we know we're moving the store physically farther into the gut of the Uni (good thing, don't get me wrong, but MOVING XD ) - and of course because it's the university, getting a schedule is like pulling teeth (actually, pulling teeth is probably easier).

I have so many projects currently it's not even funny - arts and craft, writing, gutting the kitchen cabinets and re-ordering them (that's on for tomorrow) - and I've been playing pokemon go since it was released last year - and having a blast for the past 24H as new pokemons were released *g*

I hit the corner of the big 40 this year (still feel mentally like a twenty-five-year old with the sens of humour of a twelve year old - five years on the weirder days *g*).

So, as always I have vague plans for the new year fannish wise, and I always feel like I stumble straight into the first week of the year without anything set in stone. This year, however, I think I'll adjust my 2014 fic-a-week project to a twice-a-month fic - and do like Night Vale does - post on the 1st and 15th of the month.

I'm fairly sure I'll stick with my usual OTP of Charles and Erik and doing it every other week will allow me to actually do it without killing myself.

And it'll allow me to spend some time on the arts and craft that I have fun fiddling with as well while still getting something written.

Plan is for stories between ~1K-2K *shushes people* while I know that some of them will grow fangs and drag themselves into longer ones, I want the stories to go where they want - and with the fic-a-week I was limited to being done in a week - no matter where real life tried to derail it. This time, I might adjust for 1st/15th plus minus days depending on real life - can't always be sure that I have access to post on those days, though I'll do my utmost to hit the dates.

And I'm not getting into how sucky 2016 has been to us, how many people we've lost, Anton Yelchin, Carrie Fisher (and her mother as well, today), Alan Rickman and so many others. Not to mention Brexit and the joke of the American election (and I mean that, what the everloving fuck happened there?). So here's to 2017 being better, we'll be stronger, we'll fight the shit that hits us (or the fan). And we'll bloody well be creative in any way, form or shape that we can.
ximeria: (Default)
And almost ready to head off to the Scottish lowland - well, pit stopping in Copenhagen to have fun with friend :D

I've got this and that to do during the vacation, a little fic, some photos that need dealt with (I take FAR too many when out and I've still got a ton of photos from Vienna Zoo that need seen to).

So here's to you all having a good time and I'll keep you up to date with what weirdo stuff I might get up to over xmas.

And I can't be the only one looking forward to the Assassin's Creed movie, ammarite?
ximeria: (Default)
I'm back *eg*

I'm actually going to try to post here more often. Why? Because, like someone on tumblr said, we sort of miss the LJ/DW format.

So I'm going to keep throwing shit into the blog again *g*

What you might ask? Well, tonight it'll be a bit of real life stuff.

Maybe tomorrow night it will be fannishly related. I've finally managed to edit the Warehouse 13 fic and have handed it over to butterynutjob to get their judgement. After 51-52K words, I have no real feel for if the story works or not. The brain has turned to mush at this point.

I have, however, a bunch of ideas/prompts etc in my GDocs and I'll probably unload them over here as a wip platform.

We'll see if I can keep that one going this year. I've tried for ages to get back to this blogging format but my brain often refuses to agree on getting anything done.

So, aye, that's what I'm aiming for. So a little fannish, maybe, tonight. I've been making boxes for the gifts I'm giving that are too small for my taste (one is a gift certificate, the other is a refurbished smart phone). So one box is now pitch black with team mystic's logo on it while the other one looks like one of the journals/books from Gravity Falls.

Speaking of Team Mystic - my own team as well - I've been enjoying Pokemon Go and still am. Caught a pikachu with a xmas hat today *g* - I wonder if they keep the hat when you evolve them?
ximeria: (Default)
I seem to find other things to do when I should be editing *laughs*

Ah well - can't have it all, can we?

*does a little work on a Gravity Falls box for a xmas present*

*tidies the living room a little*

*makes a cup of coffee*

*eyes Warehouse 13/x-men fusion fic that should be edited*

*makes another cup of coffee and checks drying point of box*

So, how is everyone? Still here?

*ponders some writing exercises*

Edit what fic, you said?
ximeria: (Default)
Still going at it, but as my vacation week draws nearer, I watch the wordcount with worry. I'm out of the country for a week - and I'm not expecting to get anything done writing wise that week.

The good news is I'm chipping away ever so slowly and I'm a good deal ahead, at the moment at least. I've as of tonight, passed the 30K mark *cheers self on*

The title of tonight's post is linked to the fact that I'm not sure there's enough meat on this for 50K - mind you, I've just let the villain get away, so it's not like I can't keep writing *g* - and considering it's a fusion with the Warehouse 13 universe, which is a series, I guess I can just keep going until I hit the magical 50+K.

It's been surprisingly easy to fuse the x-men characters and world into the idea of a Warehouse that deals with artifacts - and using mutants for it actually proved quite logical. That at least is something, so I don't have to worry about my ideas and good intentions falling apart halfway through (although famous last words, there's still 20K to go - it could go wrong yet).

*\O/*
*cheers everyone else on*
ximeria: (Default)
Consider this your cheering squad. Here's to hoping you're getting words written. Doesn't matter if it's 5, 500 or 5000 - I know the magical number of the 50K NaNo goal, but even if you don't get there, you should aim for it. Aim for it, if you land short, overshoot or hit bullseye, one way or another, you've put words into sentences. It's exercising the brain and the writing muscles.

Beat those words and sentences into submission.

*goes back to torturing Erik*
ximeria: (Default)
Anyone else doing the nano? Yes? No? If so, how is it coming along for you guys?

*bounces*

I may have had a little too much coffee today. And I think I just broke Alex. I'm going to have to make up for that but having passed 8K words I think I still have time for that.

Summary:

The year is 1864. While unrest brews in Europe, Charles Xavier is finally able to start his research after spending years trying to find funding. Riding the tailcoats of Charles Darwin, he sets out into the British countryside to find out how much truth there is in folklore, how much of it that can be explained by his own kind, gifted humans with special abilities.

Little does he expect to find new friends, new challenges, a budding attraction both emotionally and physically. Not to mention an enemy with far more nefarious and sinister plans than he could have ever imagined.

Erik Lehnsherr is set with a good business, a manor and grounds, staff and acquaintances he can lean on if needed. However, having tracked down and killed the man who killed his parents, he feels adrift, wondering if this is where he's supposed to end his life; a respectable man with a respectable business.

Dragging a drowning Englishman out of the river starts him down an entirely unforeseen, but not necessarily, unwelcome path.
